2014 Favorite Reads Giveaway

Posted by on October 24, 2014

Happy Friday y’all!

Recently, blogger Allison Ruvidich, over at The Art of Storytelling, did a countdown of her top ten favorite books and gave away one of them. And I actually won the book. My choice: Seraphina by Rachel Hartman. Can’t wait to dig in!

I loved her idea so much, I just had to do one for myself. With Christmas nearly upon us (has anyone been in Walmart lately?) I wanted to do something special for you all, and since I love reading and sharing that experience with others, I am going to share with you all my top five favorite books I read this year. I know, I had to make it easy on me by limiting it to just this year. But don’t worry, I’m planning on other possible countdowns in the future. We shall see.

So starchristmas-countdowngiveawayting next week, each Friday (except for Nov. 28) I will share one of my favorite reads, beginning with honorable mentions first. To enter the giveaway, all you have to do is comment on the posts. The winner will be announced on December 19th. And since it’s for Christmas, I will throw in something extra.

By the way, Allison and her fellow bloggers have put together their first The Blogger Awards 2014. It is a series of awards designed to celebrate  authors with books published in 2014. They are accepting nominations for seven different categories, including covers, titles, heroes, heroines, just to name a few. How fun, right?

Have a great weekend!

***

And it begins! As each post goes live, I will update below with the appropriate links.

Honorable Mentions

Favorite Reads #5

Favorite Reads #4

Favorite Reads #3

Favorite Reads #2

Favorite Reads #1

***A chance to earn extra entries***

Do you know someone who loves fantasy? Who might enjoy one of the novels mentioned in the countdown? Refer them to any one of the countdown posts and have them comment, saying you sent them. You’ll get an extra entry for every person who mentions you by name. There’s only one more Friday left! I will stop accepting entries on Wednesday, December 17th at 11:59 PM, Central Standard Time Zone. It’s been awesome interacting with you all!

Have fun and read responsibly!

I’ve heard a lot of good things about Seraphina. So when I saw it on the discount racks at BAM! for a few dollars, I snatched it up right away! Now I just have to sit down and read it. 😉 Having to limit yourself to this year made me laugh but I know what you mean, too.

I know how that goes! I have a long list of books to read, and I do intend to read them one of these days! If I did a list of my all time favorite books…so many good books would miss out. But I intend to do one for my birthday. 😀

      Thanks for stopping by!

Oh, fun! So, we comment on the post of the book we want to read? But what if we decide later we want a different one? 😀 Or do we just comment on all of them and you’ll put all the comments in a hat, so to speak?

    • J.L. Mbewe

Comment on all, your names goes into a hat, and at the end, I will draw a name out of the hat. Winner gets to choose which book they would like and if they would like it in paperback or ebook. 🙂

      Thanks for stopping by Bethany!

What a fun idea! And it’s a great way for us to discover more books. 🙂 How can you limit yourself to only five?! LOL. Strong woman. 😉

It is so, so hard! But I’m cheating….I’ll be having honorable mentions as well. (And there are only 8 Fridays until Christmas. Eep! Thanks for stopping by!

What a great idea! I’ve been thinking that I need to do a roundup of the books I’ve read this year, list off which were great and which ones … weren’t. 🙂

Thanks! I went over to Goodreads to check on my reading challenge progress, I’m four books behind. We shall see if I can catch up. 🙂
