2015 Reading Challenge

Posted by on January 26, 2015

Happy Monday!

What’s a New Year’s Vision Board without a Reading Challenge?books to read (640x640)

I did not finish 2014 strong in the reading category, or otherwise. But I’m still plodding along! So I can’t add any more books to my to-read list until I finish this list. Although, I have been known to make exceptions–no–Must resist. Must. Stay. Strong.

Except…have you seen the upcoming releases this year? Dauntless by Dina Sleiman? Draven’s Light by Anne Elisabeth Stengl? Siren’s Fury by Mary Webber? I might have to make a few exceptions.

This year I am challenging myself to read at least ONE book a month. Of course, this isn’t including all the books I need to read for my British Literature student I’ve been tutoring. Plus some kind of parenting help book, cause we all know I need all the help I can get in that category, not to mention writing and marketing. Fun!

So for my 2015 books to be read list, I figured I’d start with the ones I own. Here goes, in no particular order:

  • Golden Daughter by Anne Elisabeth Stengl
  • Orphan’s Song by Gillian Bronte Adams
  • Seraphina by Rachel Hartman
  • Sheba by Tosca Lee
  • Wraithblade by K. M. Carroll
  • The Lotus Effect by Bridget Ladd
  • The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson
  • Son of Truth by Morgan L. Busse
  • King’s Warrior by Jenelle Leanne Schmidt
  • Steel Lily by Megan Curd
  • Fall of Sky City by S. M. Blooding
  • Song of the Summer King by Jess E. Owen
  • The Quest for the Scorpion Jewels by Amy Green

So, what’s on your reading list for 2015?

I’m reading Orphan’s Song right now. It is SO GOOD. King’s Warrior is good too, I love that one. And Seraphina. Great list!!!

Thanks! I am hoping to read that one right after I finish reading Golden Daughter. Glad to hear you like that one, and the other’s you’ve mentioned. I am looking forward to them. Thanks for stopping by!

You have nothing to be ashamed of. I’m hoping this will be the year I finally catch up on the backlog of books I purchased while I had a staff discount. I’ve got somewhere between 120-150 unread books in the house, and if I (for once in my life) manage not to buy or borrow any new ones, it’s totally achievable. Wish me luck!

Thanks! That’s A LOT of books! I’m hoping to do more than one a month, but we shall see. I tried two a month last year, and it didn’t go do well. Ha! Here’s wishing you the best of luck with tackling your reading pile!

I’m going to try to read more this year too. I’m almost done with A Time to Die and I have my eyes on Of the Persecuted and Orphan’s Song. I’d also like to read your book, Dragon Thief. =)

    • J.L. Mbewe

Ah, thanks! Dragon Thief is actually a short story set in the world of Nälu years before the opening scene of Secrets Kept, so it’s easy to squeeze in. 😉

At the reading rate I am going right now, I don’t think I’ll be able to read as much as I would like. But here’s hoping! Thanks for stopping by!

I love hearing from you!
