Cosplay in Action

And the adventures of an introvert finding her tribe.

Realm Makers 2015 was amazing!

Realm Makers cosplay x3

Where else would you find Hermione, Super Editor Gal, and Maleficent?

At first, I wasn’t sure what to do with myself. Socially awkward, shy, might have put my foot in my mouth a time or two. AND I didn’t have two kiddos chase around and provide a buffer between me and the outside world. But I managed!

Realm Makers Nadine

Nadine Brandes, who shares my love for Harry Potter. 🙂

It was so awesome to finally connect with so many people who I’ve only met online. And to meet many more who share the same love for speculative fiction. The classes and the keynote speaker’s messages were all spot on for me. No burning bushes, but quiet confirmation and encouragement. Seeds were planted, and I am excited to see how they will grow in the months and years to come. I hope to be able to go to Realm Makers 2016. We shall see.

Realm Makers kids and me

My kids did not miss me at all. They had a blast at Dr. Steve and Ms. Jean’s house.

And then there were costumes! From Dark Matter to fairies to Star Wars to Sherlock to Harry Potter. I didn’t take many pictures. I was so in the moment that it slipped my mind.

As you can see, I went as Hermione Granger, complete with chocolate frogs, a time-turner, a few special potions, and an awesome scarf a friend made for me. 🙂

Sigh. Now time to get back to reality. The house has been turned inside out and upside down with hubby’s latest building project. I’ve got a list the size of Mount Kilimanjaro, and there’s only one week before school starts!! Ack! Doing my best not to hyperventilate.

Hope you all have a great rest of the week!

I totally relate to the feeling of being shy and using your kids as a buffer to the world around you! I so wish I could have gone and met you there…I hope you will go again next year? 🙂

Hey, I love your new blog design! Very pretty.

Hi Bethany! I wish you could have too. It was amazing to finally meet the people I’ve been interacting with online. There are still more I’d like to meet. You being one of them! I so hope I can go again.

And thank you! Ralene was getting on to me about it looking more like a parenting/lifestyle blog rather than a fantasy blog, so I’ve been working on that. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
