This last week or two, I discovered a new song. And it just might be my new theme song. I shared before about different theme songs like February 3, 2013 post on my old blog featuring Plumb’s Need You Now. And then there’s the writing theme songs like Avril Lavigne’s Keep Holding On back in 2012.

But this song…wow. It hits home as a mom of young kiddos, trying to balance reality and dreams. It is so easy to get caught up in the details of living and forget to live. Of course, Plumb’s Need You Now and Tenth Avenue North’s Worn goes hand in hand with this one.

So the other day, I was sitting at the computer, trying to be productive. There’s so many details, and I’m floundering a bit. Granted, it’s because I’m not living in balance. When I start a project, I want to keep working on it until I finish. Can’t quite do that with such huge projects and so many details and such limited time. So…I might be burning out a bit. But I am aware and I am taking steps to s.l.o.w. down, if you hadn’t noticed that already. Ha!

That said, I was listening to this song. A lot. As I sat at the computer, I shut down all the other documents, folders, and programs, and then I opened paint. It had been awhile, even though I had promised myself one day a week to paint, to create for free without strings attached or deadlines or purpose. If you know me, you know that I do not sit down and paint without purpose, inspiration or it turns into a big, black blob. But this time was different, and I wanted to share it with you all. Hope y’all have a great weekend!

I like the song – I’ve heard it on the radio. The painting is lovely, too.
I tend to be the same way – I find a song that really speaks to me or for me and latch on to it for a while. God has a way of bringing songs into my life right when I need them. Just another way He’s awesome. 🙂

Thanks Ralene! I’m not sure the song inspired the painting, but it definitely hit home and I just kind of lost myself in it. But now I’m enjoying the silence…that might be because my son is done with school for the summer. ha! Thanks for stopping by!

That’s a beautiful painting. I love the range of colors. It reminds me a little of the style on the cover for my edition of the Hobbit.

I love “Worn”, but had not heard the Plumb song. Thanks for sharing that as well. It’s really beautiful
