CSFF Blog Tour: Merlin’s Shadow

Posted by on December 16, 2013

Happy Monday Y’all!

Did you have a good weekend? Mine has been a crazy whirlwind of activities, yet slowly checking off the things on my to-do list such as all the prizes save for one for the past few giveaways have finally been sent. Which means, the paperback of Secrets Kept is now available! Whoohoo! And we finally celebrated my little girl’s third birthday with a My Little Pony birthday cake. I might have to share pictures on Facebook later. 🙂

Which brings me to today!

It is time for the Christian Science Fiction and Fantasy Blog Tour!

Featuring: Merlin’s Shadow by Robert Treskillard

Available at Amazon and Barnes and Noble. If you haven’t read book one, Merlin’s Blade, you can find it at Amazon or Barnes and Noble as well.

Author Robert Treskillard continues his Merlin Spiral series with book two, Merlin’s Shadow, another fresh take on the ancient Arthurian myths. After destroying the sinister Druid Stone and freeing his people from its dark control, Merlin finds himself a royal advisor without a king. Along with his friend Garth, and Natalenya, his betrothed, Merlin treks north with the orphaned Arthur in hopes of keeping the young king safe from soldiers misled by their turncoat captain. As the threat on all their lives increases, Merlin discovers their only hope is sailing to the lands of eternal darkness, and once again cleansing the world from an ancient and powerful evil.

First off, do you like epic fantasy? Fifth century Britain? Do you like stories about King Arthur? The Merlin’s Spiral has it all. It took me back in time, and I was living it. And very thankful that I am where I am today. Ha! As you can tell, I am enjoying Treskillard’s re-imagining of the Arthurian legends.

The tour usually runs for three days with a bunch of other bloggers featuring the same book and sharing their thoughts. And I’ve got a nice little line up for y’all, including an awesome interview with the author tomorrow, plus my review on Wednesday.

If you haven’t read, Merlin’s Blade yet, it is highly recommended to start there. A few weeks back I shared my thoughts on the book. You can find my review here. One word? Epic. Loved the story and can’t wait to share with you about it’s sequel.

But today, we have the book trailers. Have you seen them? One designed by the author himself, and one by his publisher. How cool is that?

So what do you think? Curious? You can read the first two chapters of Merlin’s Blade and Merlin’s Shadow on the Merlin’s Spiral official website.

Robert Treskillard is a Celtic enthusiast who has been crafting stories from his early youth, is a software developer, graphic artist, and sometime bladesmith. He and his wife have three children and are still homeschooling their youngest. They live in the country outside St. Louis, Missouri. It all began when Robert’s son wanted to learn blacksmithing and sword-making. The two set out to learn the crafts and in the process were told by a relative that they were descended from a Cornish blacksmith. This lit the fire of Robert’s imagination, and so welding his Celtic research to his love of the legends of King Arthur, a book was forged—Merlin’s Blade, book one of The Merlin Spiral, now published by BLINK Young Adult Books and available wherever books are sold.

Hi, J. L, I’m here with the blog tour and I really think yours is one of the most complete posts I’ve run across so far, I really enjoyed it.

I’m not a very big fan of Arthurian fiction but I did enjoy Robert Treskillard’s take on it.

Hey! Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed the post. 🙂 I love most anything medieval, but I must admit that I have watched more movies than have read books regarding Arthurian legends. And I definitely enjoyed Robert Treskillard’s take on it. Thanks for stopping by!
