With the Dragonwitch blog tour in full swing, I figured why not do some dragon themed posts this month, just for fun. And what better way to start off with a list of books I’ve enjoyed that featured dragons.
Front and center, has to be Donita K. Paul’s Dragonkeeper Chronicles. How cool would it be to have pet dragons that come with helpful attributes like healing, glowing, and humor just to name a few. Of course, the Dragonkeeper’s world has more than just pet dragons, there’s riding dragons as well.
Eragon and the world of Alagaesia. Love the interchange between Saphira and Eragon.
The Windrider Saga by Rebecca P. Minor. Again, love the interchange between Captain Vinyanel & Majestrin, who breathes ice instead of fire.
Starlighter pits a world of dragons against the world of man, where the dragons have enslaved man. I have yet to finish reading the rest of the books. So many books, so little time!
Several years ago, I read A Wizard Named Nell, where a young girl who has a pet demidragon goes on a quest to become the next Apprentice Keeper and rescues an albino dragon.
Not too long ago, I was kid-sitting with a 10 year old boy and we talked a lot about books. One he made me read, and I enjoyed, was How to Train a Dragon by Cressida Cowell.
There’s dragons in I am Ocilla by Diane M. Graham, you might not see them right away, but they are pretty important to the story. The cover hints at it. Can you see it?
Then there are the dangerous dragons of the wizarding world of Harry Potter, and I can’t leave out Smaug from The Hobbit or I might get stoned. Ha
Currently I’m reading the Different Dragons Anthology and there are some cool stories within that feature dragons of all shapes and sizes, and not so typical either, and I’ll be sharing a little bit more about that later this month. 😉 So what are some of your favorite dragon reads?
