Hello New Car!

Posted by on September 10, 2015

Goodbye Mono.

totaled

My son at the time couldn’t say Nemo. It was Mono. It stuck.

Two weeks ago my hubby’s car was totaled. He was, is fine. So no worries! We were down to one car and you know what? I felt relieved. Crazy right? It was an introvert’s dream. Ha! BUT after two weeks of walking to get my son from school. In Texas. On the cusp of summer. With no sidewalks. I am thankful for my new wheels!

If you are following me on Instagram, you would have already seen this beauty. But if you haven’t, here she is!

new car

I can totally conquer the world now.

My hubby will be driving my old car, Gizmo. I named it after one of my cats I had as a teen. AND guess what? The owl who played Hedwig in the Harry Potter movies was named Gizmo! Perfect, right? (It was also a white car. And the car before that. What’s the deal with white cars? BUT for the record this one’s more…pearly….ecru color. ;-P )

So now I need to find an epic name for my new ride.

My son wanted to call her Nugget. No.

Then he said Bucky (Short for buccaneer from Jake & the Neverland Pirates) If it was brown….maybe.

My daughter wanted to call her Sally. Um…No.

Then she suggested Poop. WHAT?! She got a giggle out of THAT. Yeah, no.

I suggested Hedwig. Moony. Luna. But my kiddos want to put Mrs. in front of the names. Not sure why… Mrs. Moony sounds cool, but might give some interesting connotations, no? But only if one was familiar with the Harry Potter world…

Of course, they didn’t like my suggestion of Shadowfax. And they said it had to be a girl’s name. Oookay. So no Fenwick. Ha!

So what do you think we should name our car?

Hope you all are having a great week!

Cool. Glad hubby is okay. Cruikshank? I favor Luna Lovegood. Or Moony. But you know I’m a Harry Potter enthusiast delux. Lol. Of course for a white vehicle, there’s always Blanch. Good luck with selecting just the right name. And do let us know what you end up with.

Thanks Lynn! Oh, I like Crookshanks! But wasn’t the cat orange, right? Yeah, I’ve favored Harry Potter names myself. Ha! If it would have been blue, I was gonna call it The Tardis. But alas, as you can see, it’s not blue. Maybe Narnia! But it’s not exactly white, white like winter. Oh, maybe I should call it D’Winters from The Three Musketeers!!! Or Evie from The Mummy…except we know an Evie….that would be a little weird. Of course….I could name it the ship’s name from my next work-in-progress… 😉

      Thanks for stopping by!

My brothers named their red Chevy Cavalier The Crimson Crawler, and we just call our station wagon The Wagon. So I might not be a good source of car names.

    • J.L. Mbewe

The Crimson Crawler…awesome. Yeah, The Wagon. That’s got a nice simple feel to it. 😀

I guess we could just call it a “Murano” if we can’t find anything fun. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!

We’ve only ever named one of our vehicles and it was just because the coloring was so perfect it pretty much named itself. We even splurged and got a license plate to match. (It’s a “pacific blue metallic” Rav4 and we named in Glitch after Glitch Bob in the animated tv show Reboot. Yes, we’re big nerds, too!)

    How about Wynter?

    • J.L. Mbewe

Oh I like Glitch. I made a paper mosaic once and one of the triangles tore, but I used it anyways. I called it Glitch. 😀

Wynter….I’m beginning to like this name more and more, but I would have to go with D’Wynter. 😀

I had thought about Sairu from The Golden Daughter… so many choices! Of course, I could go with Buttercup. BUT I’m pretty sure we had a cow named Buttercup. Ha! Or Willow…ooooh, we could call the car Fin Raziel!

      Thanks for stopping by!

Oh, you should call it Una (from Tales of Goldstone Wood because of her opal ring… which could be a sort of pearly color… I started typing this thinking, “Una wears a pearl ring… ” and then I got to the ring and went, “oh… nope, it was an opal.” LOL)

I love naming cars. My first car was a Ford Ranger which I named Strider. Haha. Punny!
Then we got a very dark gray Escape… so I named it Sirius. (I’ll let you figure that one out on your own)
My next dream car is an Expedition… and I want to name it Shackleton. 🙂

So, I can help you out with more ideas… but I need to know what the make/model of the car is in order to gift you with my vast punniness. 😀

    • J.L. Mbewe

Awesome! I actually had thought of Una…prefer Monster if it had been orange. Ha! I LOVE the Ford Ranger’s name and Sirius. Yes! Well, the vehicle is a Nissan Murano. And the only punniness I could think of was “morena, de mi corazón” from the Canción del Mariachi from the movie Desperado. Doesn’t quite fit since “moreno(a)” means dark. Now I have to go listen to that song. 🙂

      Thanks for stopping by!

Hmmm, that is a bit on the difficult side. You could name it Simon or Garfunkle (I am a rock, I am an island) since “Murano” is a series of islands off the coast of Italy. Or you could call it John Dunne (more literary) since “No man is an island.”

Apparently, the island of Murano has a lot of history in the glass-blowing and mirror-making business. This could be a segue into calling it “Snow White” (which is a girl’s name, apt for the color, book-related, and there is a mirror in the story which plays a key role).

And that’s all I’ve got for now. 🙂

        • J.L. Mbewe

Awesome! Thanks for the suggestions! Oh…Snow White….my kids insist the car’s name has to be a girl’s name, so that could work. ha!

  5. Nadine Brandes

Ah! How scary! Glad you’re okay.

I’ll admit, my first thought was to name your new car Hedwig. I’m glad that you thought of it, too. 😉 You could always name it…albino. 😛

    • J.L. Mbewe

Thanks Nadine! Albino…no. ha! But I’m leaning toward Hedwig. Or D’Wynter. OR Fin Raziel. So many choices! I’ll have to run the names past the kiddos and see what they say. 🙂

      Thanks for stopping by!

I love hearing from you!
