Interview: Sarah Grimm

The Grimmlies!

Today I am excited to have Sarah Grimm of Grimmlies joining us just in time for Christmas! She is the artist behind the cute little Grimmlies. Handmade polymer clay dragons, griffons, unicorns, and pegasi, oh my!

So without further ado, please welcome Sarah Grimm!

Hi Sarah!

Thanks for joining us! Please tell us a little about you. Favorite hobby, movie, book?

Right now I’m learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and I absolutely love it, though I can’t say I’m any good yet.

Do you have any kids or pets?

I have two awesome kids, a son and a daughter, and two awesome dogs.

Coffee or tea?

Tea. Always tea.

Tell us a little about the Grimmlies. When did you start making them? What kind of creatures have you done? Which one is your favorite?

Grimmly green and yellow dragon

You know you want me. 😉

So I started making April 2015. I wanted a clay dragon to sit on my desk and saw really cute ones online and decided to make my own. Then other people were like, ooh, I want one! So, I started selling them. I’ve made unicorns, pegacorns, gryphons, dragons, water dragons, a handful of different dog breeds, wolves, Phoenixes, and a really cool tiger.

Of the four magical creatures you listed, gryphons are my favorite to make. I love gryphons anyway, and I never thought I’d be able to make one.

Are you making/selling any right now? If someone wanted to order a Grimmly, what should they do?

I am! You can go to my etsy shop and send me a direct message. Or you can send me an email at GrimmliesCreations (at) gmail (dot) com.

And just for fun, if you could visit any time and place in the world, where would you go and why?

I would go to Babylon and watch the writing on the wall with the prophet Daniel. And then I would get out of there fast because it was not a very friendly place to be.

Thank you so much for stopping by Sarah!

Pick me, pick me!

The Grimmlies.

Aren’t they cute? AND guess what? Ms. Grimm has so graciously offered a promo code to purchase one of her Grimmlies from her Etsy shop. The promo code is GRIMMLIESPOTLIGHT and it’s for $5 off. It expires Jan 1st.

What fantasy creature would you choose to be crafted in clay?

They are adorable. 🙂 I’m curious if Sarah uses an armature or are they solid?

I made a unicorn with a seashell horn for my mother a few years ago. It was a lot of work, especially dying the wool for the mane and tail.

Wow, Kat, that is lifelike and very cool Thank you for sharing the image with us! I’ll let Sarah know of the question. Thanks for stopping by!

Very cool unicorn, Sparksofember! Thanks for the compliment. I do use an aluminum armature for most of my creatures.

I love hearing from you!
