Introducing: The Nälu Ponies

Posted by on September 26, 2014

Happy Friday y’all!

Last week I shared with you about the #PonyFest14 contest. So you know I had to join in on the fun.

The contest: design a My Little Pony based on a character in one of my stories. With a chance to win my design made into a real My Little Pony. And then from October 5th through 17th visit the other blogs and vote for your favorite pony! Winners will be announced on October 19th!

Fingers crossed!

But have you seen the other ponies? *gulp*

So without further ado:

From the world of Nälu, let me introduce to you the three My Little Ponies.

secret kept

When a family secret kills her father, Ayianna must discover how to free the plains people from a curse before the sorceress resurrects an ancient evil and she loses her mother too.

Well, I couldn’t decide which character I would do from Secrets Kept, but three jumped out at me right away. Kael, Saeed, and Ayianna.

But I will have to choose only one. I’m leaning toward Ayianna. Which one would you choose?

Pony Number One

Kael. Some say he is a half-elf, but he never knew his mother. His father was one of the Lords of the elven council and never spoke about her. Kael was determined to follow the path of his father until tragedy struck. Not once, but twice, losing his wife, his son, and his sister.  He vows to never love again and ponders accepting the High Guardian’s recommendation to join the Circle.

Pony Number Two

Saeed. High Guardian and headmaster of the Kayulm’sa Nutraadzi. The oldest living elf among the nations, he saw the last sacrifice performed and was one of the first to volunteer to become a Guardian, even if he was only five years old at the time. But he’d rather forget those memories. Now death’s fingertips are tugging at his soul, and he must choose his successor among the remaining Nevins to lead the Guardian Circle.

Pony Number Three

Ayianna is a young half-elf who dreams of becoming a Stargazer. Unfortunately, her parents have other plans, and they betroth her to Desmond, a dashing young man with an eye for the royal courts of Badara. But then her father is murdered, and she discovers her family has been keeping secrets.Ayianna pony stars

They are all so cute!!! I especially love Ayianna – her eyes and all the detailing – she would look fantastic made real by Kalavista. Did you draw them by hand? (Don’t forget to post your entry over there – I don’t see it yet.) Still trying to decide if I should enter mine – they aren’t near as cute as yours. 😉

Thanks! Yes, I drew them by hand and then uploaded them to photoshop and added the coloring. I will head over there right now and add the link. You should still enter them! I would love to see them.

They’re all so pretty! I think Ayianna is my favorite as well. Good luck in the contest!

  3. Kessie

Really cool designs for all of them! I notice Desmond is absent–I think he’d resemble the evil King Sombra. And the Sorceress would look like Nightmare Moon. 🙂

    • J.L. Mbewe

Thanks! Actually, the Sorceress would have been white with red curly mane and tail, green eyes, and with a black widow spider for her cutie mark. I was tempted. ha! Thanks for stopping by Kessie! You should join the fun! Indal? Xironi? Carda?

  4. Rebekah Clark

I love all three!!!!! I think Ayianna is my favorite but I love Kael and Saeed as well!!! So hard to choose!

  5. Nancy Uhlenkamp

    Hi Jennette…
They are all very nice but number three is my favorite too. Nice job! Good Luck!

    • J.L. Mbewe

Hi Nancy! Thanks for stopping by and commenting! We shall see how the contest goes. It’s been fun looking at all the entries. I’ll keep y’all posted! 🙂

  6. Diana Beebe

Wow! They are all so gorgeous! There aren’t many hand-drawn entries. I’m glad you entered. 🙂

    • J.L. Mbewe

Thanks Diana! This was so much fun. I’ve already got ideas for future ponies. It is so addicting! Ha! I hadn’t attempted the pony creator, it was just easier to make a quick sketch than learn something new. Thanks for stopping by!

  7. Patricia Lynne (@plynne_writes)

They are all pretty! I like Ayianna the best. I think it’s the gradual color change on her legs and nose that get me.

    • J.L. Mbewe

Thanks Patricia! I agree. At first I had thought Kael or Saeed would be my favorite, but when I finished designing Ayianna, she stole my heart. Thanks for stopping by and sharing!

I love hearing from you!
