Busse, Merlin’s Blade by Robert Treskillard, Curse Bearer by Rebecca P. Minor, Armored Hearts by Melissa Turner Lee & Pauline Creeden, Sanctuary by Pauline Creeden, The Silent Swan by Lex Keating, Starlighter by Bryan Davis and more!

AND Chocolate truffles (what’s a basket without chocolate???)

And, of course, swag!

The People’s Choice Award.

Yes, we will get to vote on our favorite photo, so make sure you rally your forces. Winner will receive a signed copy of Secrets Kept and Tales of Nälu: Volume One as well as some cool swag, and, of course, chocolate. Still working out the details!

Ways To Enter: All this is on the rafflecopter, and I will add more as the contest progresses.

I would dress up like a fairy tale character–Snow White probably. I love the outfits they get to wear, very girly:))

    • J.L. Mbewe

Hi Cindi! Yes, love their different outfits. When I was a little girl, I just loved Aurora’s dress, but “blue”. 😉

  2. Hannah

Weee! This is going to be so much fun! I have my costume decided!

If I could dress up as anyone, who would it be? Wow, there’s a tough one. Does “Any elf will do,” count as an answer? 🙂

    • J.L. Mbewe

Hey Hannah! Looking forward to seeing your costume!

Yes, any elf counts. 🙂 But what would your elf look like? There are so many varieties, you know. Like Tolkien’s, The Shoemaker Elves, Santa’s elves, Artemis Fowl’s elves… 😉

  3. sarahtps

Yay, contests! This is so exciting! And it gives me an excuse to try to my hand at making a costume. Out of curiosity, should I be dressing up as someone/something from a particular book/other source? Or can I just dress up as anything or anyone as long as it’s family-friendly?

    • sarahtps

And I forgot the Rafflecopter question again. If I could dress up as anyone, I’d do one of these ideas:
-A bardess (basically a female bard, someone from some of my stories)
      -Steampunked fairy tale character
-LOTR elf (not a specific elf from the movie; just someone I came up with)
-Kind of a strangish idea I had, but a ‘victim of grace’.

    • J.L. Mbewe

Hi Sarah! Yes, anything and everything. 🙂 Thank you!

  4. Dominique

That sounds like so much fun! What do you have planned for your costume?

    • J.L. Mbewe

ACK! I knew someone would eventually ask this. Ha! I don’t know yet….

Thanks for stopping by! Do you have a costume in mind?

  5. Dominique

I think I would be a leprechaun. While I am not short, I have red hair and I love gold jewelry!

    • J.L. Mbewe

Fun! A LONG time ago at my old job, I dressed up like the rainbow, my friend dressed up like a pot of gold, and we convinced another friend to be a leprechaun. Because you can’t have a rainbow & a pot of gold without one. Thanks for sharing!

  6. Galadriel

River Song or Sarah Jane Smith from Doctor Who. And Eleven and Idris…okay, pretty much everyone from Doctor Who.

    • J.L. Mbewe

Awesome! I know a lady who dressed up as River Song, and she looked almost exactly like her. It was awesome. Thanks for sharing!

  7. Timothy C. Ward

I sent you a picture when I dressed up as a trail guide in the Outback for my VBS. Way to go on the finished book!

    • J.L. Mbewe

Awesome! Thank you Timothy! I appreciate it! Off to go look in my inbox! Thanks for participating!

  8. Meghan Stith

Either Marie Antoinette or Jessica Rabbit.

  9. naturefairy

I most likely won’t make a costume for myself, because I don’t really have a reason to wear one, but if I did, I’d probably dress up like an elf from Lord of the Rings (minus the ears, but I could wear my hair down, and then no one would be the wiser, for the most part..)

    • J.L. Mbewe

Do you have an older picture of you dressed up? It doesn’t have to be a recent picture. I would love to dress up like Arwen or Legolas. 🙂

  10. Annie Douglass Lima

I’d love to dress up as a medieval maiden (similar clothes to those in my own fantasy series).

    • J.L. Mbewe

Hi Annie! A medieval maiden would be awesome. I love that time period. 🙂

  11. Molly

I would totally dress up like Loki from ‘Thor’ or like Dauntless from ‘Divergent’.

  12. Hannah

A question about the costume contest. Could we send in pictures of more than one costume? And if we have one costume, but have some really great photos of it, can we send in more than one picture of it?

    • J.L. Mbewe

Sure! For photos of the same costume, I will put together a collage before uploading it to Pinterest, but otherwise, for different costumes, I will give you credit for each photo. 🙂

  13. Aaron DeMott

Where do we e-mail said photo?

  14. Emily Anne K

I just bought the book and I can’t wait to read it!
And I can’t quite decide who to dress up as for the contest! A medieval princess, a Greek goddess, a cloud dweller, a super hero… and my list goes on!
    Thank you for all this!

    • J.L. Mbewe

      Awesome! Thank you!
And all those costumes sound great. A cloud dweller? I’m thinking…Care Bears or Thor or? 😉
I love costumes. I might need to start a list too. Thanks for participating!

      • Emily Anne K

Well, I’d hoped you would ask about cloud dwellers. You see they live in the clouds, of course, but they also have some unique characteristics–white hair, skin, and wings as well as any color of eyes (purple for example). I made them up with a friend of mine years ago. I am attempting to write books about them and their world, but haven’t gotten so far yet…
Anyway, in the end, I decided to go with a different costume–a purple poodle skirt. I’m afraid I don’t quite have all the things needed to dress up as a cloud dweller.

        • J.L. Mbewe

Awesome! Now, I’m curious! Would love to learn more about this cloud world! I love watching the sky, and many times I wonder about fantastic beings living up there in such majestic clouds especially the cumulonimbus, the thunderheads. 🙂

So does that mean you’ll be sending us a picture of your costume?

          Happy writing!

  15. Allison R

Good question… hmm… Maybe the Princess and the Pea. It’s always been my favorite fairy tale… I’m just not sure how I would do it…

    • J.L. Mbewe

Hi Allison! You could always dress up like a princess in pjs and carry around a blanket and a stuffed pea. 😉

  16. Crista Nice

If I could dress up like anyone… I would want to dress up like a 50’s pin-up girl or greek goddess.

    • J.L. Mbewe

awesome! You could totally pull that off. Thanks for joining in on the fun!

  17. Marcy Rachel

I don’t celebrate Halloween, so I’ve never dressed up like anything. However, if there was like a costumes’ party, non-halloween related, I’d like to dress up like a fairy, vampire or pirate. There’s so many more, but that’s my top 3. 🙂

    • J.L. Mbewe

I hear ya! My hubby isn’t into it either, but I love costumes. I’ve been a pirate a couple of times. 😉 Thanks Marcy!

  18. Clare Davidson

I’d probably go with Merida (just like Eleanor), which I guess makes me sad 😉

    • J.L. Mbewe

Why does that make you sad? I love Merida, I want to watch the movie again just to hear her accent. 🙂

  19. Em

If you have seen the cover of Teardrop by Lauren Kate, that is who I would dress up as….If I could only find a decent dress made of water 🙂

    • J.L. Mbewe

Oh, that would be hard, but awesome! Very neat cover. Thanks for participating!

I love hearing from you!
