My cousin is a strong, amazing woman, and her son, Andre, is her hero.
“Throughout the past six years, Andre has mystified the medical community. At 19 days old, Andre was involved in an accident resulting in a severe head injury. His original diagnosis was grim with little to no chance of survival or ever leading a normal life. But they forgot to tell Andre, and he continues to be a happy, energetic, loveable, over-achieving kid.
Andre has attended year-round school and weekly therapy sessions since he was six-months old, which have paid off in a BIG way! He now attends mainstream 1st grade and, with adaptive services, is able to stay in the classroom with his peers and participate in activities with his friends.
The past few months have been a bit of a struggle for Andre. While he continues to attend school and therapy sessions, intractable seizures have led Andre down a difficult path. Doctors are working earnestly to control his seizures with no success. With his larger than life personality, Andre is determined to beat the odds.”
Family and friends are coming together to support Kim and Andre this Sunday with a benefit. Since, I couldn’t be up there, I wanted to share his story with you all. Here is a video clip from a news channel of the latest update on his journey. It says it better than I ever could.
Hug your loved ones and have a great weekend!
