Whoohoo! It’s Friday! Finally. Ha!
Lots of fun things happening around here with the Dragonwitch Book Tour, and a chance to win the whole Tales of Goldstone Wood series. How cool is that? Are you working on your creative piece for the Creative Dragon Giveaway? You have until July 31st 11:59 to enter.
Most of you know that I LOVE music almost as much as I LOVE books, and there’s nothing like the first strums of the guitar on a childhood favorite. Puff the Magic Dragon. The beautiful harmonies and the simple guitar telling a story of growing up. No, it isn’t about smoking marijuana, according to this article: Just a Minute with: Peter Yarrow.
The song has even more meaning to me. The fact that I was able to recognize the exact song in those first strums gained me a smidgen of respect, and then I lost it in the next round of 3rd grade “name that song” when I didn’t know the other songs. I mean, really, who in 3rd grade has ever listened to Peter, Paul and Mary? (During the years I was in elementary that is. The song was recorded in 1963!) But everyone knows Puff the Magic Dragon. Somehow, I had that song connected to the movie Pete’s Dragon. Ha!
So here’s a little flash from the past. Puff the Magic Dragon by Peter, Paul and Mary. Speaking of movies, what dragon movies have you seen and loved? Hope y’all have a great weekend!
