Summer Love Blog Hop

summer love

The summer is almost over! And it is time for the Summer Love Blog Hop! If you haven’t noticed already, I LOVE giving away stuff, especially books. It’s like I’m looking for my book soul mate to share the journey, the adventure! And what better way than to give the books you’ve enjoyed.

Sweet romance is the theme of this blog hop, and I will be giving away an ecopy of The Difference Between Night and Day and The Silent Swan to one lucky winner as well as a $5 Amazon gift card.

Difference Between Night and Day

Here there be vampires! Melissa Turner Lee has turned the icon of paranormal creatures upside down, and I loved how she did it. When Nathaniel & his leather, biker dude persona rode off on his Harley and then almost wrecked, I busted out laughing. I was hooked. You can read my review here on my old blog. Available at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Nathaniel Taylor was a Christian who thought believers were exempted from “dark times.” That was until he entered his own long time in the dark. When he meets Lilly, a young woman in danger, it sends him on a journey to discover the difference between night and day and that during dark times, the light is hidden, not gone.

The Silent Swan
Oh my goodness. What can I say? I read an advanced reader copy and have yet to write a review for this one. I hated it, I loved it, but when I closed the book (on my kindle), I was left with this amazing story. It’s a contemporary young adult with a touch of literariness. (Is that even a word?) So NOT my type of book, but it’s good to stretch our horizons a bit, eh? BUT it is based on the Grimm’s fairy tale, The Six Swans. The books isn’t even available yet, but the ebook is set to be released the end of this month. The paperback is available for pre-order on Amazon.

Once upon a time – better known as “now” – Gabriel Pritz reigns as king of his high school. Easy grades, perfect baseball season, a pretty date for prom—he’s coasting into a golden future. Until his parents demand he cook dinner once a week. Caught between kitchen fires and ballpark withdrawal, Gabe is thrown into Tam Swann’s orbit. Hostile, friendless, and stubborn, she’s exactly the sort of person he’d prefer to avoid.

Tam’s sphere of influence expands beyond Gabe’s sad domestic skills, rapidly invading everything from his favorite game to parts of his soul he didn’t know existed. It’s uncomfortable, it’s hard work, it’s…making him a better man. And that’s just what she does to people she doesn’t like. The better he gets to know her, the more he has to face the truth: this sharp, heart-breaking outcast is worth fighting for. How many families, fairy tales, and felons will he go through to ride to the rescue of the bravest person he’s ever met?

I like the books by Lisa Kleypas, like Rainshadow Road (Friday Harbor, #2) . Or for historical romance, I like Grace Burrowes.

  3. Leilani Sunblade

I’m not crazy about romance, but some romance is ok. And I love fairy tale remakes. Do those count as “sweet romances”? If so, my favorite is probably Princess of the Midnight Ball by Jessica Day George. And it’s not a book, but the romance in Tangled is pretty sweet.

  4. Kathy O

My favorite sweet romance is between Joclyn and Illyan from the Imdalind Series by Rebecca Ethington.

The Six Swans is my favourite fairy tale! I’m a little nervous about The Silent Swan, though, because Juliet Marillier’s retelling, Daughter of the Forest, is one of the greatest love stories I’ve ever read.

It’s strange because I can’t remember a title of a sweet romance I’ve read. I know I have read some, but there it is…senior moment strikes again!
