Monday, I shared with you all the books I read for 2013, so it would only be appropriate for me to look at 2014 and what kind of adventures await. I bought/downloaded so many awesome books this past year and I haven’t had a chance to sit down to read them yet. I own most of the books listed, so I figured it would be best to start with them, right?
For Fiction:
- Storm Chase by K. M. Carroll
- Son of Truth by Morgan L. Busse
- King’s Warrior by Jenelle Leanne Schmidt
- Steel Lily Megan Curd
- The Ryn by Serena Chase
- Fall of Sky City by S. M. Blooding
- The New Recruit by Jill Williams
- Song of the Summer King by Jess E. Owen
- Dreamlander by K. M. Weiland
- The Quest for the Scorpion Jewels by Amy Green

Isn’t the cover beautiful & intriguing?
Caught me eye, but don’t have:
- The Lotus Effect by Bridget Ladd
- Nightriders by Marc Schooley
- Never to Live by Just B. Jordan
- Dawnsinger by Janalyn Voigt
For writing:
- Plot verses Character by Jeff Gerke
- Plot & Structure by James Scott Bell
- The Rise of the Machines: Human Authors in the Digital Age by Kristen Lamb
For living & parenting:
Because you and I both know I need all the help I can get. Ha! Last year I didn’t spend the time I needed to in this category, so this year I will have to divide my reading time between awesome adventures and boring nonfiction. I’m just not sure what books I will tackle here. Any recommendations?
AND the books coming out this year that I’m looking forward to:
- Shadowhand by Anne Elisabeth Stengl
- Merlin’s Nightmare by Robert Treskillard
- Time to Die by Nadine Brandes
- And hopefully the sequel to Bid the Gods Arise by Robert Mullin. Hint, hint! Just kidding, Robert…
So what books are you looking forward to reading this year? What’s on your to-read list?
Shadow Hand definitely tops my list, too!
I’m also looking forward to The Blood of Olympus by Rick Riordan and Abolished Impracticality by Jack Lewis Baillot. And Hail Frost by Kaycee Browning.
Other than that, I just started Quest for the Scorpion’s Jewel last night! 🙂 I got books 1,3, and 4 for Christmas (not sure what happened to book 2…) so I’m looking forward to reading all of them.
I’m a little slower to accumulate new books, however, as I don’t read digital versions. I also don’t generally buy books I haven’t read (unless I’m pretty confident about the author), so the library is my best buddy.
Anyway, looks like you’ve got an awesome list there! (though I may be slightly biased 😉 haha) happy reading!
Hi Jenelle! Thanks for stopping by and sharing! Yes, Shadowhand is a must-read this year, no doubt about it.
I have read Lightening Thief by Rick Riodan. It was good. I will have to revisit that series soon. I tried to look up the other two, but didn’t find anything on Amazon.
I started Quest last year about October or November, but then got swamped with the book release and writing guest posts for the tours. But this year, I will finish it.
I hear ya about the library and buying books. I love libraries! Having a digital reader has been great to discover new favorites.
A little bias isn’t so bad, right? 😉 Thanks and happy reading to you too! 🙂
Grace Based Parenting by Tim Kimmel is a must read. It changed my parenting.
I have a ton of books on my kindle that I couldn’t even begin to list them! Many of those you listed I have read or hope to read. Just need to find the time…lol.
Right! I only listed the ones that really caught my eye, I have far too many on Kindle as well. So this year I am going to attempt to read these, at least to get started. It might take me awhile. 🙂
I might have heard about Grace Based Parenting. I will have to check it out. Thanks for stopping by and sharing!
I haven’t read it yet but my husband is working on Dobson’s Bringing Up Girls and loving it.
I have see Bringing up Girls in a magazine or something. I will have to check it out. Thanks for stopping by and sharing!
I have a bunch of those same books. I really should at least try to read them all!
I hear ya! I am going to try, but not sure how it will out work out this year. So many demands, so many books, so little time. 😉 Thanks for stopping by and sharing!
Books coming out this year that I’m looking forward to:
Continuing The Lunar Chronicles, by Marissa Meyer (first book is Cinder. Book three, Cress, comes out next month).
I’m also looking forward to Thomas Wayne Batson’s book, Dreamtreaders.
Then I have about a hundred on my to-read list and book shelves. Haven’t chosen the lucky 20 for this year yet. 😉
Oh, yeah, Cinder is one that I want to read too. And Dreamtreaders I am very curious about. I had a sketchy idea so long ago with a similar idea, so I am curious to see where he took it. Now, there’s not guarantee that I will get to all these this year…but we’ll see where I sit in December. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by and sharing!
I’m writing, I’m writing (pant, pant)!
Haha, I’m only slightly kidding. 😉
I really want to read “Daughter of Light,” “Curse-Bearer,” “Shadow Hand,” and “Armored Hearts.” I’m also going through the classics (next on my list is “Uncle Tom’s Cabin”!) And I’ve heard quite a lot about this “Bid the Gods Arise”… My library doesn’t have it, but I may just invest in buying a copy…
Hi Allison! I want to balance my reading with the classics as well. I love Bid the Gods Arise. Have you seen Anne Elisabeth Stengl’s interview with him? Here it is, juts in case: http://anneelisabethstengl.blogspot.com/2013/04/introducing-robert-mullin.html Thanks for stopping by and sharing!
Armored Hearts was one of my two favorites from 2013. (The other was remnant in the stars)
Storm Chase and steel lily are both really good.
Son of truth was good, but in retrospect, I wish it was a series I’d found after it was finished so I could read it all at once.
I’m looking forward to reading dream lander and the sequels to bid the gods arise and secrets kept.
Some Aaron somebody has a book coming out this year too…
Hey Aaron! Thanks for stopping by and sharing! You will have to let us know when that Aaron somebody’s book comes out. 😉
