Taking a Break

photo (480x640)Where did the summer go?

It has been a blast. The kids have had a full summer! We’ve done our “Daily 5” in the mornings for the most part, hoping the transition to kindergarten for my son won’t be as big of a challenge as it was last year when he went to Pre-K.

The kids have had many highlights.

  • Zoo
  • Friend sleeping over for a week
  • Birthday parties
  • Hotel stay with a swimming pool
  • VBS for the week
  • Lots of bounce houses opportunities
  • Discovery Science Place
  • They got to ride a train!

And then I crashed. Ha!

Well, it’s time for a midyear check in. How is everyone doing on their goals so far?

I’m learning to be realistic on what I can and cannot do. Being stretched big time this year, but I’m making progress, even if it’s slower than I would like.

We’ve seen the release of the short story, A Princess No More, and I’m making strides with the edits from my content editor. Whoohoo!

That said, we are gearing up for the fall here. Why does everything have to start back up at the same time? It’s enough to make me hyperventilate. Of course, I’m not merely participating, I’m helping, which means I’ll have responsibilities. And that means I have to think. I have enough trouble trying to plan menus, grocery lists, and editing without adding more details to juggle. And no, I am not an extrovert. And yes, I’m slightly crazy. My line up:

  •  School: my son is off to kindergarten…I wonder if I’ll cry again…he’s Growing Wings! Such a sap.
  • Awana: Bring on the games!
  • Life Group: This one’s new. But I hear we will be having fun, playing games, connecting with other couples.
  • Mom’s Group (Think MOPS): Help coordinate the kid’s program

Oh my!

And did I mention that my hubby has decided he’s going to replace all the carpet with laminate flooring before September?

Breathing in…breathing out.

Coupled with my writing stuff and tutoring British Literature (So looking forward to that!), I’m going to take August and September off of blogging as we transition into the fall. I might even go offline for a day or two or so. But don’t worry. I’ll still be around. Lurking. I have a couple of review commitments for August and September, but that’s it. I’ll be focusing on editing and transitioning into a new schedule with more irons in the fire. Didn’t I say I was going to cut back??? Ha!

Hope you all have a great rest of the summer!

What is starting back up for you all this fall? Are you excited? Or dreading it? Me—probably a little of both. 🙂

Sounds like your August/September is about as crazy as mine! Let’s see… we started 1st Grade last week (homeschooling my oldest). We’re finishing up swim lessons through August. My mom is coming to visit in a couple of weeks, Hooray! My ladies’ Bible study starts up in early Sept. My daughter is going to take a few classes at a camp/homeschool co-op… difficult to explain… and those start in September. I’m also hoping that a friend of ours might be willing to give her some private art lessons this fall. Oh… and baby #3 is due Sept. 22.

    Breathe in….

And I’m the crazy one trying to get another round of edits done on book 3 before the end of August. Yeah… planned that one well. 🙂

Ha! That’s great. Congrats on baby #3! Sept! Wow, yeah, I’d say you’re pushing it. I tried to knock out the edits for book 2 in July. Didn’t happen. Blah.
You do sound like you got quite the start up. I hope it goes smoothly for ya! And don’t forget to rest with this new baby coming. 🙂

I’m just trying to get started again, both with my blog and writing in general. It’s been a rough 12 months or so. Enjoy the rest of your summer!

Hey Ken, long time! Glad to hear you’re starting back up again on your blog and writing. I’m sorry you’ve had a rough year or so. Hope things smooth out for you. Thanks for stopping by!

Goodness, you’re covered up with activities! Remember to rest and recover your sanity!

Thanks! That’s exactly why I’m stepping back. Once everything gets going, I should be able to juggle it all. Ha! But I will definitely be catching what rest I can. Thanks for stopping by!

I love hearing from you!
