My Review

A fresh take on a fun Christmas poem, ‘Twas an Evening in Bethlehem shares about that special evening when Jesus was born through the eyes of a child whose father works in the Inn that had no room for Joseph and the very pregnant Mary.

The illustrations were lovely and paired nicely with the text. The author did a wonderful job writing and keeping with the rhythm and rhyme of the traditional poem, I especially thought it clever when it came to naming the shepherds who came to visit. I read it out loud to my kids, and they loved it. Definitely a treasured story to add to our collection.

The Author

Jenelle is a rare and elusive creature known as an “author.” She enjoys wandering in the woods and opening doors in search of hidden passageways. She can sometimes be found in darkened corners of libraries or coffee shops sipping hot chocolate and carrying on animated conversations with those strange and invisible beings known as “characters.”

If you spot an author in the wild it is best to proceed cautiously, as, like many other authors, Jenelle is a bit shy and timid, though her friends would disagree with that statement. Her favorite genres to read and write are fantasy, sci-fi, and fairy tales.

I’m really excited to get my own copy. I think this is such a great thing to bring into the world, a Christmas poem that is actually about Christmas! Wonderful!

By the way, maybe you should do a children’s book of your own while your kids are still young. Just a thought.

Us too! My kiddos really liked it.

I would love to do a children’s book. I have tried brainstorming children’s books, early chapter books, but my brain stalls out. I have even tried to have the kiddos help me, but that hasn’t gone very well. Ha!

      Thanks for stopping by!
