1) In Strayborn, we have guardians, monsters, an academy, elemental manipulation, Scourgebloods, talk of reborn Heroes. Can you tell us a bit more about the story world you’ve created and what kind of adventure we are in for?
Strayborn‘s world is vast, and some of the countries are sort of like a modern-day Europe, based off of places my family traveled to. For example, the River Noncello in the story is the same name as the river in the Italian town I grew up in, and the gelatteria is based on the same one I loved going to. The mountains are also similar to the Alps in Austria, where we would roadtrip.
But there are various different cultures in the story world, and mythical humanoid races who rule. There are fairies, goblins, dragons, but also races you don’t see much of in literature, like the deer people. At the same time, the story itself is relatable and fun, and the Academy is a super cool school where you can learn to use your elemental power (if only I had one!). But this world isn’t a safe place; in fact, there is a lot of racial tension and bitterness, which our main characters will have to face. As well as an ancient enemy who has awakened…but I can’t say more on that yet. 😉
2) What are your absolute favorite kind of stories to read?
I have a wide range of favorites! From the classic grand Tolkien books, to mysterious stories about fae, and any tale that has an Asian flare. I want a story that piques my interest, grabs my attention and keeps me riveted throughout the read! Likewise, my goal is to write books that will do the same for readers.
3) In your bio, you mention you’re a product of a traveling family. What are some of the places you’ve visited and what were your favorites? And travel means food. So what are some of your favorites?
We went on road trips throughout Europe while my family lived in Italy, and let me tell you, there are so many amazing places that will fill your imagination! In fact, that’s what inspired me to write stories. My favorites have to be: Salzburg, Austria and the incredible Alps mountain range there. It’s like walking into a fairy tale but everything is real. And Edinburgh, Scotland for its rolling hills and lush landscape and architecture–not to mention the ancient castle and armory at the city’s heart!
The food in Europe–was–amazing! I love sweets, and those pastries and croissants in Italy and Paris were the best! (I miss it so much)
